Coming by plane
The closest airport is the Trieste airport (40 Km; buses to and from Udine), which has direct connections with the hubs of Munich, Milan and Rome and other airports.
The airport of Venice "Marco Polo" is about 120 Km away. Train connections between Venice and Udine are frequent (approximately every 60 min); most companies fly to Venice from several European airports. From the Venice airport "Marco Polo" you can reach the railway station "Venezia Mestre" (on the mainland) by bus and then travel to Udine by train.
Venice has a secondary airport, near the town of Treviso, with some low cost flights; you can reach Udine from Treviso by train. Take the bus no. 6 from the airport to the railway station. At present (February 2004), shuttle buses to Venice ("Venezia Mestre" railway station and Venezia, bus terminal) are available at the landing of flights of Ryanair and other companies.
